Site Outbox/Site Workbench/cqstats.com Problems

We are aware, and working on, a problem with the Site Outbox newsletter system, as well as the Site Workbench site builder and streaming stats system at cqstats.com. We're having some server issues that are currently being diagnosed. We'll have everything back up as quickly as we can.

UPDATE (09/01/2008 11:58PM) - Drive controller failure destroyed both drives in the server hosting these systems. We're still working to recover data if possible, and will post further updates here tomorrow.

UPDATE (09/03/2008 12:19PM) - While we are still working on trying to recover data, we have recreated newsletter marketing accounts at www.newsletterserve.com, and have sent out access details by email. There are a few accounts for which we do not have enough information - those we will contact shortly.

We will not likely be recovering the site builder at http://www.siteworkbench.com. Instead, we will be licensing and configuring a better solution, which we hope to have available by Thursday, September 4th.

Streaming stats will be decided later. We are in the middle of testing flash streaming to roll out service mid-September, and what we do with the cqstats.com streaming stats recovery may depend on what we decide to use for statistics for Flash streaming. We will be happy to provide access to raw log files for those who wish to analyze their own logs in the meantime.

Stay tuned for further updates.

UPDATE 09/05/2008 11:48AM - The new site builder is now online, at http://www.siteworkbench.com. Anyone can begin building a site immediately, but once your site is ready to publish, you'll need to let us know so we can establsh an account for you. As previously mentioned, the old site builders will not be re-established, so those wanting to use our online tools for creating a site will need to use this new product. You should find that it is far more robust than anything we've provided previously.

If you begin working on a site with the new site builder, it is not necessary to log in. Simply begin using the wizard, and once you are ready to publish the site, the last step will advise you to provide us with the site id and website to which you want to publish, so that we can create an account for you. This approach will allow anyone to use the site builder without having to have an account set up previously by us, so that we can reserve true site builder account licenses for people who are definitely going to publish from Site Workbench. Just remember to visit the Publish page at least once when you first start building your site, so you can bookmark the URL and come back to work on it later.

We do not at this time have any specifically Church or Christian templates in the new site builder. We will have some developed and available as soon as possible. There are many generic templates that will be usable for a church site, just nothing specific to Churches just yet.

Users of the old site builder can edit their existing pages with the html editor in the site control panel's file manager. Just be sure to make a copy of any page before editing it, so you have a backup.

Steps to use the html editor in the control panel:

  1. Log in to your account and then click the control panel link under "Control panel" on the left side of the page.

  2. Click the "File Manager" icon in the "Files" section of the control panel.

  3. When the "File Manager Directory Selection" popup displays, leave it set to "Web Root" so you'll immediately be placed in your web page file area, and click the "Go" button.

  4. Locate the file you wish to edit and click the checkbox to the left of it.

  5. Click the "Copy" icon at the top of the page to make a copy of the file. Follow the directions in the Copy popup.

  6. Click the "HTML Editor" icon at the top of the page to edit the page.
