Upcoming changes to Windows media streaming plans

Early last year, we made this announcement regarding streaming plan changes.

At that time, current customers were grandfathered in, retaining the uncapped service that provided 20GB of monthly streaming bandwidth usage, and 2GB of storage (for on-demand plans). Customers who were found to be exceeding the plan parameters were upgraded to the newer plans, but most customers retained the grandfathered plans.

Now that we have released our flash streaming service, the grandfathered plans will begin to be upgraded to newer plans, starting as early as April 1st, 2009. The process will take time, probably weeks or months. We will take a look at your recent peak usage, and set your streaming bandwidth level accordingly, but you can order an adjustment to your bitrate by following the steps outlined in this knowledgebase article.

If you are currently using a grandfathered Windows media plan, you will need to upgrade to a new Windows media plan, or convert to flash streaming.

To get an idea of the new Windows media plan pricing, please visit the windows streaming page and the streaming levels table.
