How do I access my website control panel?

When your hosting services were initially provisioned, we sent a detailed set of instructions to you via email. This instructional email provided you with the information necessary to access your control panel. Please retain this email. If you delete the email, you can also access it from within your account by clicking the "Account email history" under "Customer menu" on the left side of the page, while logged into your MEDIASERVE account. All the emails we send to you are archived there for review.

Also provided while logged in to your MEDIASERVE account is a single click link to access your control panel. You'll find this link under "Control panel" on the left side of the page. The link will generally launch you directly into the control panel, without prompting you for your control panel username and password. This is because our billing system retains the password information we used to set up your hosting, and submits it to the control panel for you.

If you have forgotten the password for your MEDIASERVE account, visit the password reset page. You will need to know the email address on your account to be able to request a password reminder. If you do not remember the email address on your account, please open a support ticket for further assistance.

In times past, we allowed customers to change the control panel password from within the control panel. However, this resulted in your control panel password being out of sync with the informaiton in our billing system, so we disabled that ability. This means that some customers could possibly find the control panel link within their account does not log them in properly - presenting instead a page for the entry of the username and password. If this happens, simply read this knowledgebase article, which explains how you can reset your control panel password from within your account. After following those instructions, your control panel link will work properly.

Our Linux control panel, powered by cPanel, runs on port 2083 instead of standard port 80. This means that corporate firewalls, and even some personal firewall and security software, will block access to your control panel. If this happens, you may need to determine whether port 2083 can be unblocked to provide you the ability to access your control panel.

An alternative that does run on port 80, made available by a recent upgrade to cPanel, is to access your control panel via cpanel.[your hosted domain name], i.e. cpanel.mydomain.com. This means of access runs on standard port 80, and thus should not be blocked by firewalls or security software.

Note that if you are a customer who still uses our legacy, discontinued Windows based hosting, you can access your Helm control panel directly at cp.[your hosted domain name], i.e. cp.mydomain.com

One other problem that can present itself when you try to access your control panel is our intrusion detection system. If within a short period of time, you make ten attempts to log into your control panel without the correct username or password, your IP address will be blocked from accessing cpanel for five minutes. We recommend you get into the habit of accessing your control panel from within your MEDIASERVE account, where the username and password are automatically submitted to the control panel, in order to prevent this.
